About Our Library Director

Meet Pat Bell, our library director.

If you see the blue Blazer parked in front of the library, come in to the library and visit with our director!  Pat Bell has been director at the Arthur Public Library since May 1999 and is certified as a second level Library Director by the State Library of Iowa.  

Pat graduated from Ida Grove High School and has worked as a receptionist for Drs. Sinnott and Toben in Ida Grove,  IA,  worked as an assistant to the Odebolt Community Preschool in Odebolt, IA, and is currently a certified paraeducator working at the Odebolt-Arthur Middle School in the Success Center, church secretary at the Arthur Evangelical Free Church , in addition to the position of Library Director at the Arthur Public Library.  She is married to Jon Bell and they have four children: 

  • Tim, married to Jen, living in North Sioux City, South Dakota, working at Home Depot and they have one daughter, Madison Ann, born September 29, 2005
  • Jenni, married to Aaron Thomas, living in Slater, Iowa, teaching Middle School Band at Gilbert
  • Katie, currently a freshman at Wartburg in Waverly, majoring in Music Therapy and Music Performance
  • Daniel, a sophomore at Odebolt-Arthur High School, working part-time at Ida Grove Food Pride

Pat's interests include working around the acreage where they have recently moved, oil painting, music, working with kids, and, of course--READING--when there is time!
